This Privacy Statement explains how Restaurants Australia (the "Site", "we", "us") collects, uses, holds, and discloses personal information about people who visit the Site, subscribe to our newsletter, contact us, or interact with our content.

This Statement should be read together with our Terms & Conditions and Disclaimer.

1. Who We Are and How to Contact Us

The Site is operated by Estate Assets, located in New South Wales, Australia. For privacy questions, access requests, or complaints, contact us at contact@estateassets.com.au.

2. Our Approach to Australian Privacy Law

Depending on our size and activities, we may or may not be an "APP entity" under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Regardless, we are committed to handling personal information in a way that is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in that Act. If the Site earns revenue, collects sales leads, operates affiliate or referral arrangements, sells reports or subscriptions, or handles sensitive information, we recommend obtaining legal advice on your specific obligations, as the small business exemption may not apply.

3. What Personal Information We Collect

Depending on how you use the Site, we may collect:

• Contact details — name, email address, and phone number, when you subscribe to the newsletter, submit an enquiry, or contact us;
• Enquiry content — the content of messages, comments, or questions you send us;
• Comment content — anything you post as a comment, including your chosen display name;
• Technical data — IP address, browser type and version, device information, and pages visited, typically collected through cookies and analytics tools; and
• Preferences — your newsletter and communication preferences, including unsubscribe requests.

We do not intend to collect sensitive information, such as health information, or detailed financial information. Please do not include this information in enquiries or comments unless we specifically request it.

4. How We Collect Information

We collect personal information directly from you when you provide it (for example, through forms, subscriptions, comments, or emails), and automatically through cookies and analytics when you browse the Site. We may also receive information if you email us or interact with us on social media platforms we link to.

5. How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

• respond to your enquiries and provide the information you have requested;
• send you newsletters and updates you have subscribed to, and manage your subscriptions;
• operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site and its content;
• understand how the Site is used (for example, which articles are most read) so we can improve it;
• comply with legal obligations; and
• send you marketing and promotional material, but only where you have consented or where otherwise permitted by the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).

We will not use your personal information for a purpose unrelated to the purposes above unless you consent or we are required or permitted by law.

6. Disclosure of Information

We do not sell or rent personal information. We may disclose information to:

• service providers that help us operate the Site — such as website hosting, email newsletter platforms, analytics tools, and (if applicable) payment processors — under arrangements where they may only use it on our behalf;
• professional advisers (for example, our accountant or lawyer) where reasonably necessary; and
• regulators, law enforcement, or other authorities where we are required to by law.

7. Overseas Disclosure

Some of our service providers (for example, hosting, email, or analytics platforms) may store or process personal information outside Australia, including in the United States or other countries. Where required by law, we take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients handle personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, in line with APP 8.

8. Cookies and Analytics

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to remember your preferences, understand how the Site is used, and improve your experience. You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings, although doing so may affect how parts of the Site function. If we introduce advertising technology, retargeting, or actively target users in the EU or UK, we will add an appropriate cookie consent mechanism and update this Statement.

9. Direct Marketing and Unsubscribing

Our marketing communications comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). Each marketing email clearly identifies us and includes a working unsubscribe facility. You can unsubscribe at any time by using the link in any email or by contacting us, and we will action your request promptly. You may also ask us not to use your information for direct marketing (APP 7).

10. Data Security and Retention

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure, including using secure connections and restricting access to authorised personnel. We retain personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes above, or as required by law, after which it is deleted or de-identified.

Where a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm and we are required to do so under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Part IIIC), we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required.

11. Accessing and Correcting Your Information

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it if you believe it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant, or misleading (APPs 12 and 13). To make a request, contact us at contact@estateassets.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable period. We may refuse a request where permitted by law and will explain why if we do.

12. Complaints

If you believe we have breached the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) or mishandled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve the matter. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.

13. External Links

The Site may link to third-party websites (for example, social media, government portals, or advertiser sites). Those websites are governed by their own privacy policies, which we do not control. We encourage you to read their policies before providing information to them.

14. Changes to This Statement

We may update this Privacy Statement from time to time. The current version will be published on this page with the date of last update. Material changes may be highlighted in our newsletter or on the Site.
